EUGENE Whiteaker
• d • ► Public Safety Station
City of Eugene
520 Blair Boulevard
Eugene,Oregon 97402
(503) 687-5149
(503)687-5111
25 February 1997
Christine Anderson
Supervisory, Public Works
City of Eugene
Eugene,OR 97402
Dear Christine:
Public Works is a vital player in the success of dealing with
Washington/Jefferson Park. I valued Dee Grissell ' s work with
the Task Force and regret the loss of his services. He was a
positive participant in the planning phase as well as executing
his role in the outlined plan.
I have invested countless hours dealing with the problems of this
project over the course of four years. Often problems demanded
attention with minimum delay. I could depend on this kind of
cooperative response from Dee and his team of workers. He under-
stood the urgency of action to stem problems, if effective results
were to be achieved.
Cooperation has not always been forthcoming from Public Works ,.
personnel. In a particular case, I lost one year of work plus
considerable time having to renegotiate "the Salem web" to regain
granted permission which was undermined.
Between February and October it is essential every Task Force mem-
ber participate in the monthly meeting discussion ( 1 hr/1st Wed at
noon) . The interdiscipline (city depts, public safety, neighborhood
rep. ,school, business) discussion allows thorough examination of
issues and then outline a cooperative action plan. A "missing
link" either delays &/or creates added work.
I do not know the details surrounding the reassignment of Dee
Grissell. BUT, I would welcome his return to the Task Force
and reestablished in his supervisory position to facilitate the
plans for this year. His cooperative attitude, thorough under-
stand of the park enviroment, highly professional dealings, plus
being a 100% gentleman are all qualities beyond reproach.
