--111111111
EUGENE Public Works
Maintenance
City of Eugene
1820 Roosevelt Boulevard
Eugene, Oregon 97402
April 4, 1997 (541) 687-5220
Jan Gund, Washington/Jefferson Park Task Force Chairperson
P.O. Box 5328
Eugene, OR 97405
Dear Jan:
I am writing in response to your letter to Chris Andersen, dated February 25, 1997. Our
organization is in a constant state of change in keeping up with the growing demands of our
community. As you know, the Riverfront crew was recently dissolved in an effort to benefit the
overall park system. I share your respect and admiration for Dee Grissell's contribution to the
task force, however, his role within our organization has changed.
The new parks representative for the task force is Parks Manager, Dick Morgan. I believe he has
already phoned you to inform you of this change in staffing. He has not received the requested
meeting schedule from you so he has only attended two of the meetings. I see in your letter that
the task force meets for one hour every first Wednesday at Noon. However, Dick has said that
these meetings have not been held consistently every month. If you were to send an agenda to
Dick prior to the meetings,he would arrange his schedule to attend.
The Public Works Department is fully committed to supporting the needs of
Washington/Jefferson Park and the efforts of the task force with the resources available to us.
With the looming impacts of Ballot Measure 47 still unknown, we cannot identify at this time the
exact resources which will be available. The community will need to rely heavily on the efforts
of volunteers, such as yourself, in order to maintain Eugene's valuable quality of life, especially
after Measure 47 reductions are implemented. Thank you for the dedication and perseverance
you have shown throughout this process. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact
Dick Morgan or myself at 682-4800.
Sincerely,
Bob Hammitt
Maintenance Director
is
cc: Chris Andersen,Public Works Director
Dick Morgan, Parks Manager
