Park
Date: Friday, January 05, 1996 6:33PM
Even with the available administrative process to transfer land from PW to PDD I feel an obligation to notify
Council that we are disposing of Park land and to describe how we intend to handle replacement for that
land in the neighborhood. Maybe it would be good to all get in the same room to come to a final decision
instead of just doing this by e-mail. I'll be back on Thurs. Park
Date: Friday, January 05, 1996 4:30PM
I e-mailed John Wagner of Mainstream Housing and asked his
timeline for using the West University Park site. This is the
response I got. Obviously, if he is to retain the opportunity
to use the site he needs to know if it is available.
I have stated to him that an intent or RFP process would be
used to select a non-profit in a fair manner. If there is
only one response it could be decided quickly.
My sense, based on Christine's e-mail to Lew Bowers, that the
will is now there and the internal procedures can be pretty
quick. The City Manager can transfer the property from PW to
P&D. (If I get a go-ahead, I will be willing to prepare that
memo) We can use established housing landbank procedures to
sell the land to a non-profit. We would assure that PW would
receive the money from the sale.
If we don't like any of the proposals, we don't have to do
anything. Also, I know that Abe wants to explore any interest
the U of 0 has in the property. We can weigh that with the
proposals as well.
From: jwagner
To: Richie Weinman
Subject: West Univ. Park
Date: Friday, January 05, 1996 2:43PM
Page 1
