Memo to Bob Hammitt
August 26, 1993
Page 2
1992 - School District 4-J reports an estimate of$55,000 to remove and dispose of the
transformers at Sheldon Ballfield. Cost is being driven by the PCB removal.
Source of cost estimate is unknown.
1993 - The City contracts with National Wood Treating Company to test ballfield
poles for decay. The testing results indicate the need to replace 6 of 10 poles
within a 12 month period (See attached report dated May 6, 1993).
The City has continued to provide basic maintenance to the lighting system up to the current
date. The electrical bills for the past two years are FY92 - $1843 and FY93 - $2041.
Because of the current condition of the Sheldon lighting system and the fact that the
Recreation Division does not program any activities at the facility we are recommending that
the City discontinue the lighting arrangement with School District 4-J.
cc: Christine Andersen
Jim Johnson
Doug Post
♦ A
[3i
