The frequency of mowing is expected to increase
as the growing season intensifies. A systematic mowing schedule in the spring, rain or shine, is critical in establishing
healthy turf in the city's parks by preventing the grass from getting too tall and the clippings from smothering the turf.
During the wet months of spring, crews use specialized mowers to prevent damage to the turf from heavy, bulky
equipment. The mowers are smaller, more versatile and provide better traction than the average mower. Though mud
often pumps onto the grass while mowing in wet conditions, giving the appearance that the mower is damaging the turf,
the mud usually disappears in a few days as the rain continues. For more information, call Turf and Grounds Supervisor
John Clark at 682-4826.
Fire Stations on the Market
On Wednesday,April 23,old Fire Stations 2,4 and 6 became available for sale to the public.
