Some of this work,such as mowing hazardous <br /> vegetation and removing windstorm debris and invasive vegetation, requires heavy equipment,which, coupled with the <br /> heavy use the trail already receives, can cause accelerated deterioration of the trail. <br /> "The gravel base will help maintain the structural integrity of the trail," says Natural Resource Crew Supervisor Richard <br /> Zucker. The current work will augment the section of the trail that was reinforced last year. For more information, contact <br /> Richard Zucker, in Parks and Open Space, at 682-4800. <br /> Parks and Open Space Logo Receives National Award <br /> Funk/Levis and Associates,the consultants hired to design the Parks and Open Space (POS) <br /> logo, recently received a prestigious national award for the creation of the logo.The POS logo <br /> received an Award of Excellence from American Corporate Identity(ACI),the only annual <br /> national competition devoted specifically to the field of corporate identity. David Funk, Funk's <br /> creative director, notified POS Director Johnny Medlin of the award in a letter last week. <br /> Funk designed the POS logo last spring with the help of a staff team. Funk expressed <br /> appreciation for the opportunity to work with the Parks and Open Space Division to develop the EUGENE <br /> division's logo. "We thoroughly enjoyed working with Eugene Parks and Open Space, and we <br /> are proud to be the creators of your award-winning logo design,"said Funk. "We couldn't have parks an <br /> done it without you." <br /> More than 4,000 designs were submitted to the competition from all over the country.
