EUGENE <br /> ) <br /> March 14, 2003 <br /> CONTACT: <br /> ■ Therese Picado, Parks and Open Space Public Information Specialist, 682-4814 or 682- <br /> 4800 <br /> ■ Troy Kreger, NeighborWoods Coordinator, 682-4831, 953-2388 (cell phone on day of <br /> the event only), or troy.d.kreqerci.euqene.or.us <br /> ■ Chris Girard, Volunteers in Parks Coordinator, 682-4845, 915-5242 (cell) <br /> FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> BOY SCOUTS AND OTHER VOLUNTEERS TO PLANT TREES <br /> IN THE WHITEAKER NEIGHBORHOOD THIS SATURDAY <br /> On Wednesday, March 15, from 9 a.m. to noon, boy scouts from cub scout pac 23 and <br /> 260 will join the City of Eugene's NeighborWoods and Volunteers in Parks programs, and <br /> members of the Eugene Tree Foundation to plant trees in the Whiteaker neighborhood at 1542 <br /> W. 1st Avenue. Volunteers can meet in the parking lot of the Public Works Maintenance Facility <br /> at 1820 Roosevelt Boulevard to load trees at 9 a.m. or directly at the site. <br /> All tools and gloves will be provided by the City for this planting effort. Volunteers should <br /> wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. The trees for this project are being donated by <br /> Roseburg Forrest Products (100 ponderosa pine seedlings) and the Weyerhaeuser Company <br /> (125 Douglas fir seedlings). <br /> NeighborWoods is a volunteer program that brings together neighbors, businesses and <br /> other groups to plant and care for street trees. Volunteers in Parks organizes volunteers to work <br /> on projects to enhance City parks and natural areas.
