Spencer Butte <br /> 4iddle School is at 500 East 43rd Avenue. The project included removingivyand <br /> tier invasive plants from the lower portion of the woods; repairing, rerouting, <br /> and decommissioning trails; and adding an ADA (American with Disabilities Act) <br /> trail loop. A <br /> Project manager Holly Knight and Spencer Butte Middle School Principal Randy <br /> Bernstein are to be commended for their patience and perseverance in working <br /> through all the details needed to put in the ADA trail loop. The proposed ADA trail <br /> requirements for construction material, slope and width, and ongoing maintenance r'�" <br /> were somewhat daunting. The challenge was lessened by the many people who <br /> helped with the project. City Facilities and enjoy the"woods experience." <br /> Parks and Open Space staff offered technical assistance on trail construction and <br /> maintenance. Community members with visual impairments and users of manual and power wheelchairs also visited the <br /> site and offered their insights. <br /> This Neighborhood Matching Grant project is valued at almost $16,000. The City's grant was for$6,521.
