Rasor Park Master Plan Complete, Restoration Continues
City parks planners recently completed a master plan for Rasor Park, a neighborhood park on the east side of River Road
in the vicinity of Stults Avenue. The master plan was developed over the course of a year-long planning and public input
process. The plan emphasizes protection of the natural Greenway setting and minimal built structures. The plan
recommends a gradual approach to restore native vegetation and habitat(savanna restoration). The plan also calls for
continuing neighborhood and volunteer involvement in the design and maintenance of the park.
Parks staff has approved a planting plan for the next phase of savanna restoration compatible with the new master plan.
The Friends of Rasor Park, an all-volunteer neighborhood group, is coordinating a work party to plant more native trees
and shrubs at the park this Saturday, March 9, from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information, contact Robin Hostick, Parks
Planner, at 682-4915, or Becky Riley, Friends of Rasor Park, at 461-4281.
I
THIS WEEK
03/08- 12 BT,NN National League of Cities Conference Washington, D.C.
NEXT WEEK
03/11 M 11:30pm NN,SM,BB Planning Commission + 3 EWEB Community Room **
(Walking tour of Courthouse area; tour to begin approx. 12:10 p.m.)
03/11 M 5:30pm All Council Dinner Work Session McNutt Room
ABSENT: Taylor, Nathanson
03/11 M 8:00pm All Council Meeting Council Chamber
ABSENT: Taylor, Nathanson
03/11 Time Approx.
