•
CITIZEN REVIEW OF THE INVESTIGATIONS SERVICE PROFILE
The Investigations Service Profile was reviewed by the Police Forum. The Forum was formed to serve in an
advisory capacity for policing issues. Its role is to influence decisions and help identify community issues related
to the community policing transition. The forum reviews departmental policies and proposals, including the
review of service profiles closely related to police services. Fewer than 20% of Forum members returned
questionnaires; therefore, the response numbers may not accurately reflect the Forum's support for the different
policy areas of the profile. The documented dialogue and comments appear to indicate a high degree of
support.
Feedback on Policy Areas:
Mission:
Question to the group: Do you agree the mission statement captures the essence of why this
service system exists?
Responses: Yes 2 No _0_ Maybe _1_
Summary of Comments:
Two Forum members thought the mission statement did not identify a clear difference from Policing and
Prevention.
Action Taken:
As the Department of Public Safety moves towards community policing, the differences between the two
services will, in reality, become Tess and less distinct.
