CITIZEN REVIEW OF EUGENE CELEBRATION AND SPECIAL EVENTS SERVICE <br /> PROFILE <br /> The Eugene Celebration Steering Committee met on August 21, 1996 to discuss the service profile, <br /> after receiving a copy of the profile and a survey. This group began as a Council appointed advisory <br /> group to the Eugene Celebration and, with the restructuring of the Council's Boards and Commissions, <br /> was transformed into a departmental advisory committee. The Committee has 21 members who <br /> provide policy oversight for the Celebration and handle some of the operations of putting on the event. <br /> • <br /> Feedback on Policy Areas: <br /> Mission: <br /> Question to the group: Do you agree the mission statement captures the essence of why this service system <br /> exists? <br /> Responses: Yes 10 No Maybe 2 . <br /> Summary of Comments: Comments centered on questions about why certain words were used, as well <br /> as endorsements of the mission's meaning. <br /> Action Taken: No changes were made to the service profile document. <br /> Direction Needed from Budget Committee: None <br /> Outcomes: <br /> Question to the group: Do you agree the outcomes reflect the longer range desired results to which this <br /> service's outputs contribute? <br /> Responses: Yes A_ No Maybe <br /> Summary of Comments: Comments consisted of a question about whether boosting attendance is <br /> desirable because it leads to overcrowding, and why the goals created by the City Council ten years <br /> ago were not all incorporated. <br /> Action Taken: The service team believes that all City residents should be encouraged to participate in <br /> this event. Also, the goals created by the City Council ten years ago for this program have changed. <br /> Therefore, no changes were made to the service-profile document. <br /> Direction Needed from Budget Committee: None <br /> System Measures: <br /> I. Question to the group: Do you agree that the effectiveness measure tells you how well the service's <br /> desired results are accomplished? <br /> Responses: Yes J,__ No Maybe <br /> Summary of Comments: Most of the comments were suggestions for adding measures, some of them <br /> already in the profile. <br /> 1 <br /> II -24 <br />
