Added to the calculated typical
activity cost for such an abatement of $28.42, we get a total of $37.74
incurred by the City in the abatement of City owned property vegetation
nuisances. However, in order to utilize the contractor's time efficiently,
many of these work orders included as many as 15 individual taxlots being cut
simultaneously. The 85 abatements (work orders) of City property during the
1989 field season actually involved 614 parcels of City land. This equates to
7.2 parcels of City property dealt with per abatement and a resultant cost of
only $5.24 per parcel.
II. OPERATIONS COSTS PER MANAGEMENT CATEGORY
The table on the following page (Table VII) illustrates the breakdown of the
Vegetation Management Program's 1989 operational expenditures between the 3
management categories. The percent of each line item as well as the resultant
dollar figures are itemized under each categorical heading. As previously
mentioned, expenditures inherent to all 3 management categories will either be
divided equally between categories, allocated by the percentage of the
program's operation time per category, or allocated according to percentages
based on calculated or documented costs per category.
Vegetation Program
Cost Analysis 12
