The current local wastewater SDC rate is structured differently in that it is based solely upon
the net increase of Plumbing Fixture Units (PFUs) generated by a development. Each fixture
in the restroom facility is assigned a PFU count equivalent to standards set within the Uniform
Plumbing Code. The local wastewater SDC is then calculated by multiplying the total number
of PFUs by a factor of $35.04.
Are there opportunities to exempt these city and MWMC wastewater SDC charges for this
project?
No exemption for development of this type exists within the current SDC methodology. Credits
could be applied if existing plumbing fixtures were being removed in conjunction with work
under the permit approved for this work (local wastewater SDC credit) or, in the case of the
regional wastewater SDC, if existing building foundation area was being removed. The intent
is to capture the amount of net increase in impact to the public infrastructure and charge the
SDC accordingly.
Are there opportunities to exempt the SDC administrative fees from the development of these
fields?
The SDC administrative costs are charged to recover direct and indirect costs incurred in
complying with the requirements of state law and the cost of administering the SDC. Under
current SDC methodology, administrative costs are applied any time SDCs are assessed. The
only time the administrative cost would not be charged is when the development itself is
exempt from assessment of SDCs. For more information re SDCs please contact Nancy Bums, SDC
Analyst, at 682 -6887.
Signage
Will the proposed Score Board at each field be considered exterior signage or will it be exempt
from the City sign ordinance?
The scoreboard would be exempt from having to obtain a sign permit if the message conveyed
could not be visible beyond the development site based on the definition of "sign" in the local
code (EC 9.015). If the scoreboard was positioned to promote the school at times when an
activity was not taking place it would clearly need an approved sign permit. The intent is to help
customers identify potential issues for a site(s) and answer specific questions posed to the
multi - departmental disciplines represented at the Permit Center. Copies of minutes are
provided. If you'd like more information or would like to sign up for a PDC, please contact
Mark Tritt, Customer Service Officer, at 682 -8420.
