LANKSTON Jeff
From: ETTER John F
To: LANKSTON Jeff
Subject: Synthetic Turf Soccer Fields
Date: Friday, January 15, 1999 8:31AM
Due to the expense of these fields, they are most cost effective when illuminated for night use. The most
reasonable sites are ones set back from residential property by 200 feet (as proposed in the new Land Use Code
Update), and where off street parking is available. Sites that come to mind which meet that description include:
Jefferson Middle School, east of the school and west of Kidsports
Bethel Community Park
Amazon Park has the space, and it could be lighted under the current PL zoning. There is a small
amount of rental
housing to the east.
A sports park at the Cone Park/4J site on Coburg Road would also be possible under the proposed
setback standards.
And here is a copy of that memo I took to the meeting last week. - -John
«File Attachment: POS 4 -J meeting memo.wpd»
Page 1
