LANKSTON Jeff
From: KOLB Randy C
Sent: Tuesday, October 31, 2000 10:06 AM
To: LANKSTON Jeff
Subject: FW: Surveillance Cam
Jeff, I asked Robert Lewis of Metrovision (LCOG) about some ideas for the surveillance cam for the Churchill skate park.
Here is his reply about that issue.
"There are several variables in this arena. One is the use of cellular technology ( I had a demo of a system in our studio
for APWA that looked at an intersection in New Jersey and you could read the license plates). Another thought is to use
wireless transmission to a "friendly" location i.e.. like station 10 and then use network/telephone connection for
transmission. One decision that needs to be made is whether one wants full motion video or slow scan detailed video (for
ID). "
He also noted that a web cam would not provide the quality for either of these goals. Jeff, do you want to provide more
info re what the intent/goal is? Are you willing to put $ into this? If you can get me a clearer sense of what we hope to
achieve then I can get Robert and others loking for options. Thanks. Randy
1
