Memorandum
1 I 1
Date: June 12, 2013
To: Golden Gardens Park In - Water Dog Trainer
From: Neil Bjorklund, POS Planning Manager
Subject: IMPORTANT REVISIONS To In - Water Dog Training Permits
Historically, the City, through an informal permitting process, has authorized dog clubs and individuals to
conduct in - water training activities at the City of Eugene's Golden Gardens Park.
In response to problems that occurred during the 2012 dog training season, a more formal permitting
process has been created. Beginning on or after August 1, 2013, dog trainers will have to provide the
following written records and forms:
1) apply in writing on an application form provided by the City;
2) provide proof of current license(s) for each dog in training,
3) provide written proof of current rabies vaccination for each dog in training, and
4) sign a statement (on a form from the City) that the applicant has read, understands and
agrees to the Golden Gardens In -Water Dog Training Permit Terms and Conditions.
Those applications and forms (along with a copy of the proposed rule change) will be made available
shortly by mail to you for review and comment.
Until those forms have been properly noticed, we are enclosing a revised temporary permit valid from
April 20, 2013 to July 31, 2013.
If you have any questions with regard to the above, you may contact Chris Phillips at 541 - 682 -4908.
The proposed new rules are necessary in order to maintain park standards and will allow for greater
public safety (as well as the safety of the dogs in training) while increasing the enjoyment of Golden
Gardens Park by the public at large.
/ 0(Pli
