Due to the project having been in
development for over 14 years, and having been included in several different public processes it is
difficult to compare it to other processes currently being used. The opportunities for public comment on
the LTD park -and -ride facility at 29th and Amazon Parkway can be summarized as follows:
March/April 1984 - A meeting for requesting citizen input on plans for Amazon Park
was held at Amazon Community Center. Advertising for the meeting specifically
mentioned a bus transfer facility.
1985 - 1986 - Staff made presentations to different neighborhood groups about TransPlan
prior to its adoption in 1986. TransPlan includes the development of the Amazon
Park and Ride.
Spring 1994 - Meetings were held at Amazon Community Center to gather citizen input
during the update of the Amazon Park Development Plan. Again, the Amazon Park
and Ride was a component of this plan.
Because the planning that lead to the park -and -ride occurred at different occasions, we have constructed
a more detailed chronology of events below. Some of what follows can be documented by drawings and
correspondence on file. Unfortunately, since the earliest proposals for this occurred an estimated 14 or
more years ago, some materials have been lost, or discarded after being considered as having no further
value. In the chronology that follows, specific dates associated with an event indicate records are
presented to document or support a statement.
