4110P VI I '
ji
September 8, 1994
TO: Bob Hammitt
FROM: J.R Medlin
SUBJECT: Admin. Order to Adopt Amazon Park Development Plan
Please find attached one original of the above - referenced administrative order (58- 94 -25) for
signature processing with Chris.
Since this is the first time we have done an Administrative Order for adoption of a Park
development Plan, I'm concerned that we take a step back and look at the precedents we establish
as we go through this. Parks Planning has a number of these development plans needing to be
done and I believe we learned considerable that will be of use for the future from this effort. Such
things as what we put into the Citizens Involvement Committee proposal, the format for the
public input sessions, and how we handle the final posting of the proposed plan will be changed to
reflect what we learned.
A question I have at this point is when and how we notify the Council of this adoption. I'm
recommending we handle this in as casual of a fashion as possible in order not to raise
expectations or get locked into a very involved process for future plans. I believe a Council
newsletter article could be written briefly going over the public input steps which occurred, the
posting, the adoption by Chris and then placing a name for interested parties to contact if they
have questions. This would be a simple and I hope adequate process to use in the future as well.
