APR -18 -1995 09 49 SAL IX ASSOCIATES 503 341 1752 P.01
•
S alix Ass oc i ates 2525 Potter, Eugene, OR 97405 / 503.343.2364 / fax 503.341.1752
18 April 1995
Johnny Medlin
John Etter
Tim Rhey
fax: 683.6883
Gentlemen:
While driving south on Pearl yesterday afternoon, something caught my eye. I pulled over,
and checked, and found a new subpopulation of ,Lomatium bradshawii.
The plants are located in the flat, wet, grassy section between the Family Center (just south
of 19th and Pearl on the east side of the street), and the pedestrian bridge over Pearl Street
to the stadium area. (There also are a pair of killdeer nesting there, I think.) The majority
of plants are near the north end, near the Family Center parking lot: I counted 17 plants
there, but there may be more. There also are two plants near the south end near the
pedestrian bridge.
I checked with Ed Alverson, and these plants were heretofore unknown by him. They
appear to be the plants closest to the "type locality," that is, the site where the plant was first
recorded from. (I realize that this sort of thing tends to excite botanists, but probably no one
else!)
Anyway, Tim is always grateful to have fewer areas to mow -- so I request that this be
added to the list. Please hold off on mowing this area until the other Lomatium habitat areas
are mowed. I will be making a sketch map of where the plants are and faxing it to you
later.
Please let me know if you need any further information.
inventory, research, and planning for wetlands, forest lands, and other natural resources.
TOTAL P.01
