• <br /> J A7),!- u'y <br /> CHRONOLOGY OF EVENTS <br /> ADIDAS (AMAZON) TRAIL LIGHTING PROJECT <br /> (According to the notes, calendar and recollection of John Etter) <br /> Summer 1991 Lighting project for trail first proposed by <br /> Oregon Track Club Masters. <br /> 3/28/94 Initial public comment session on proposed <br /> developments in Amazon Park, including the <br /> lighting of the Adidas Trail. <br /> 6/7/94 A second public comment session was held to <br /> present a development plan for the park. It <br /> included a compromise proposal, suggested by <br /> an environmental interest group, Friends of Amazon <br /> Creek, to the Oregon Track Club Masters, namely <br /> that only the west half of the trail be <br /> illuminated. <br /> 9/14/94 The Amazon Park Development Plan was <br /> administratively adopted, following feedback from <br /> people of diverse interests that a reasonable <br /> compromise was achieved. At this time the Oregon <br /> Track Club Masters were advised that they could <br /> proceed with the donation and volunteer effort <br /> they had proposed. Staff provided specifications <br /> for materials that would meet Eugene Park <br /> standards. <br /> 10/ ? ?/94 Following discussion of prospective damage to <br /> trees of the Ash forest, John Etter (staff) <br /> approved relocating the lights to the opposite <br /> side of the path. Also approved was a new concept <br /> adding a concrete footing. <br /> 11/3/94 Area drain installed near south end. <br /> 11/16/94 Four 11 C.Y. loads of rock placed for trail base. <br /> 12/1/94 City staff staked light locations. <br /> 12/3 -4/94 Volunteer work commenced, trenching from the north <br /> end approximately 1300 feet to the south. As they <br /> turned east into edge of the Lomatium bradshawii <br /> protection area they abandoned use of the trencher <br /> due to wet ground conditions. <br /> 12/10 -11/94 A vibratory plow on a crawler tractor was used to <br /> continue the conduit installation. The first 9 <br /> lights were installed with concrete footings. <br /> 12/28/94 John Weber received a call from Elizabeth Mares, <br /> a private citizen, who was concerned that a <br />
