Important path connections will be
made and an existing ballfield will be upgraded to
make better utilization of the space.
Proposed improvements include:
Renovate and expand the existing Century
Field into a multi -use athletic field. Remove
the old back -stop and accommodate baseball
use with a portable backstop and batting cage.
No lights.
• Provide an east /west path connection to the
bike path.
• Provide a north /south path connection to
Roosevelt Middle School.
Allow overflow parking in a confined area west
of Hilyard Community Center. This use is
considered temporary until additional parking
is made available at the school or at the
potential acquisition site north of the Hilyard
Community Center.
STATION , 2-
New creek crossing, AJiJas Trail Improvements, and
P rairie Enhancements
Is it art? Or is it a bridge? It's the Zig Zag Bridge,
and it will soon find a home in Amazon Park. A
1% for Art piece by local artist Lee Imonen, the
Zig Zag bridge encourages one to slow down and
take some time to enjoy the view of Amazon
Creek.
The bridge also provides valuable east /west
connectivity through the park as it connects to the
existing Adidas Trail. Improvements to Adidas
Trail will help keep your feet dry in the winter and
shore up the trail for years to come.
Also proposed in this general location is a new
native plant buffer. Low areas to the east of the
bike path and adjacent to the sports fields can be
enhanced with native forbs and grasses to create a
more natural transition to the creek corridor.
