Interest and Involvement of Agencies and Organizations
U. S. Corps of Engineers: Their recent Eugene - Springfield, Oregon Metropolitan Waterways Project
Section 905(b) Analysis identifies four particular waterways that will receive an immediate detailed,
focused examination including the Amazon Canal. The report analyzes successes and opportunities
for further projects specifically mentioning the section proposed in this document.
Lane County: There have been discussions over the potential for using County Road Funds for the
traffic calming and minor gateways portion of this plan.
Lane County Fair Board: The Fair Board has allocated $325,000 for projects outlined here. $25,000
is being spent this year.
Eugene Water and Electric Board: Deborrah Brewer and Don Wilson have expressed EWEB's
continuing interest and willingness "to work as a partner" - especially in regard to our "naturalization"
efforts. EWEB is in complete accord with us in trying to reduce maintenance and chemical use, and
in taking advantage of natural flora in landscaping.
Long Tom Watershed Council: The Council is initiating a proposal for an Oregon Water
Enhancement Board matching grant (75 %) in either the Phase 1 or Phase 2 section of Amazon Canal
as outlined in this proposal.
O'Hara School: We have scheduled a meeting with the new Principal of O'Hara to re- establish their
interests in this project.
Potential Funding Sources for City Projects
General Fund
Storm Water Capital Funds
Parks and Open Space Bond
Parks SDC's
Matching Grants from other Sources
