Vice President, Institutional Affairs
Sandy Walton, Senior Associate Athletic Director, Intercollegiate
Athletics
From: Chris Ramey, Director and Architect
University Planning
Subject: Draft proposal for sharing parking at Autzen
With this memorandum I am transmitting for your comment a revised
proposal for sharing the parking at Autzen Stadium and in Alton Baker Park.
This proposal reflects revisions suggested by comments received on my earlier
draft from the City's staff.
It appears best to drop the issue of the land transfer (and the landbank idea).
Because portions of the Park were purchased with federal funds that prohibit
park land from being used for other purposes (including, apparently, roads), the
land south of Leo Harris Parkway must be added to the Park to make up for
park land that was converted to roadway.
This leaves us with the three options outlined in the proposal. Option B,
which is most likely to gain the park advocates' support, would require a
considerable expenditure by the Athletic Department (approximately $150,000).
Let me know what you think about the new proposal. Please note that I have added
a section on the reasons for granting our requests. I assume our next step is to lobby
the council using this proposal (or a revised form of it) as the basis for discussions.
Please call if you have any questions.
cc: Johnny Medlin, Public Works
Teresa Bishow, Sr. Planner, Planning Division
Jerry Jacobson, Land Use Permits Section Manager, Planning Division
Dan Williams, UO Vice President for Administration
UNIVERSITY PLANNING OFFICE
1276 University of Oregon • Eugene OR 97403 -1276 Telephone (503) 346 -5562
An equal opportunity, affirmative action institution committed to cultural diversity
and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act
