IM
7
14
Mr. Sonnichsen said her name was Grace Thurston and she was affiliated with the Creswell Museum.
In reference to the North Bank path repaving issue Ms. Larison said the CPC had no authority over that
section of the path near Leisure Lane.
Ms. Ferschweiler suggested a letter to the editor.
Ms. Larison encouraged writing a letter from the standpoint of community members who were frequent
visitors to the park and stewards of the park.
Ms. Behm said it did affect the WNA.
Mr. Sonnichsen thought the CPC had "tremendous authority." During their walk with Mr. Ruiz, the City
Manager had asked CPC members why they felt so strongly about it. He had also asked how they felt
about the development of the area where the ORI building was going to go, and how they felt about the
entire south bank north of the railroad tracks. This was an indication to Mr. Sonnichsen that the CPC had
influence on the City's actions related to the path. In addition, the CPC had proven they were "responsible,
intense and dedicated."
Ms. Larison advocated for a gentle approach to writing the letter.
Mr. Sonnichsen said he would send the letter to the CPC.
Ms. Behm thought the CPC had a reputation for standing up for things, and said it had a good reputation.
Mr. Sonnichsen thought an op -ed was a good approach, but that quiet diplomacy was the best approach.
Ms. Fershweiler reminded Mr. Sonnichsen that the CPC had not been heard by the City on this issue.
Mr. Sonnichsen said Mr. Ruiz had said he was suggesting a compromise. He added that this was not what
Mr. Shoemaker had said, however.
Ms. Mello said Mr. Shoemaker had said Mr. Ruiz would make the final decision regarding the path.
Ms. Behm said she did not think Mr. Shoemaker would have come if the City did not care what the CPC
thought.
Mr. Richardson said he had asked Mr. Shoemaker to come. He believed Mr. Shoemaker had just pre-
sented what he knew to be the truth about the project at the present time.
Ms. Behm said the CPC had gotten the attention of Mr. Ruiz.
13.
