Message Page 1 of 2
MEDLIN Johnny R
From: HANKINS Robb J
Sent: Tuesday, December 14, 2004 10:21 AM
To: SVENDSEN Glen L; MEDLIN Johnny R; GRUBE Renee L; NILES Laura M; ELLIS Rose M;
LOIGMAN Mark D
Cc: SIZEMORE Theresa J
Subject: Robb with this noon's suggested agenda
Dear friends,
Both copied and attached is my suggested agenda for today's meeting at noon at the Hult Center.
Cuthbert Conceptual Master Plan Meeting
Tuesday Dec 14
Hult Center Offices
12 noon - 1:15
Attendees: Mark Loigman, Laura Niles, Glen Svendsen, Johnny Medlin, Renee Grubee
Cuthbert Amphitheatre has the potential for being the finest outdoor arts facility in Oregon. Last summer alone
we heard the music of John Fogerty, Peter Paul & Mary, The Temptations, Harry Conniff Jr, Lyle Lovett, and
Willie Nelson. But operating out of a tradition of hosting about nine events a year in an enclosed facility not
readily available for other uses, a majority of people in the region have never even attended an event
there. Cuthbert is a hidden jewel and the symbol of what it means to say that Eugene is the "World's Greatest
City of the Arts & Outdoors."
Goals: for Cultural Services, Facilities, and Parks and Open Spaces to jointly create a conceptual master plan to:
1) redesign and "open" up this facility so that this currently fenced -in facility is ready to host a complete
range of community and commercial events for audiences from 400 to 4,000
2) expand Cuthbert season from 9 to 30+ events a year
3) put in place a cross - divisional team effort committed to getting it done
Proposed Agenda:
12:00 -12:15 What the final document will look like (using Parks Blocks Study as probable model)
12:15 -12:30 The staff from each Division that will be involved
Cultural Services:
1. Robb Hankins
2. Laura Niles
3. Mark Loigman
Parks and Open Spaces:
1. Johnny Medlin ?
2. C,p -V'c. yrt w a
3. R Oc(4( //
Facilities:
1.
