Box 1518
Eugene, Or 97440
Subject: On Grass Parking
Dear Meg,
As requested, this letter is to document the intent of the Parks and Open. Space Division
regarding continuing to grant permits for use of park property for University of Oregon game day
parking on the grass near your facility.
The Parks and Open Space Division recognizes that it has been your past practice of many years
standing to use park property to sell parking on the grass in the vicinity of the Science Factory
facility during University of Oregon football games. I understand it is your concerns about the
stability of this revenue source which generated your request to for this letter.
Discussions have occurred regarding this parking by the City Council and the City Manager over
the past year. I believe there is a clear intent in these discussions for the Parks and Open Space
Division to continue the practice of issuing these annual parking permits to the Science Factory
for University of Oregon football game day parking through 2007. I anticipate the general limits
and conditions of the permits to be issued will be the same or very similar to that permit issued to
the Science Factory for calender year 2002. The only variable I can anticipate to this may be
future changes in environmental regulations that may impact or limit our ability to grant such a
permit.
The continuation of these annual permits for parking after that date will need be negotiated with
a decision based on prevalent conditions at the time.
Since Q
Johnny R. Medlin, Director
Parks and Open Space Division
