Concerning details of your letter:
1. The current backstop/ballfield alignment could be used initially as is, allowing you to
start up next spring on that field if it works for you. It is an old backstop which we anticipated
near the end of its useful (safe) life. We do want to rebuild in the new location at the time of
replacement. We do not have funding to do this at this time.
4. Existing irrigation is a quick coupler system and inoperable. Wires have been run
from the Hilyard Center in that direction for an eventual new automatic system.
6. Hopefully the south field placement can be such to avoid having to cut trees.
All the other points (commitments on the part of Babe Ruth) sound good. There was comment
here that Babe Ruth should assume liability for issues relating to the program during their
program hours on the field, as well as for issues that involve maintenance for whatever periods
they take responsibility. As this moves ahead and toward a written agreement that gives official
direction to proceed, you should work with Dick Morgan for the operational issues, and me on
the layout and wetland issue (until I find other staff who might assist with the latter).
Sincerely,
h 4V
John Etter, Principal Landscape Architect
Parks Planning, Public Works Maintenance
cc: Dick Morgan
Bob Hammitt
Jim Johnson
