To: Etter, John (RIS1)
Cc: Hammitt, Bob
Subject: ASCOT Lighting - John Burn Meeting
Date: 1993 -09 -28 17:04
Priority:
Message ID: D77AD721
Conversation ID: D77AD721
John, Chris Andersen spoke with Mr. Burn this afternoon and agreed for you
to meet with him at 1:30 on Wednesday the 29th (Tomorrow or perhaps today by
the time you read this.) at his house @ 985 Ascot Drive.
When she told me about this commitment she said she was wanting you to work
with Mr. Burn to present him information on how the lights will /won't impact
his home. Also, info on the times the field would be in use that is
different than is currently the case. Some talk with Doug Post might be
appropriate about how we can get the Recreation or Structured Program users
to park in the school lot and police their behavior.
In my own words what I think Chris is asking for is for you to educate Mr.
Burn on what is really going to happen with these lights going in and then
to work with him on how any negative impacts may be mitigated.
On an associated issue, Leslie called me a little later and asked me to
return a call for Chris to Patti Luse. I understand Chris' hope was that
the issues would be similar and we could involve Patti Luse in our work with
John Burn. Unfortunately, I don't think this is going to be the case. I
offered but she refused. Patti Luse is only interested at this time in
finding out what she can do to stop the project. She feels the City has
betrayed her with its insensitivity to the abutting property owners concerns
by the fact that they were not talked to before the decision to place the
lights there were made. I do not know where she is going with this next.
She has spoke with Doug Post and says she is talking with her neighborhood
representative (Harlow Neighbors). When I asked if she still wished Chris
to return her call she declined. She was upset enough that she way crying
sporadically throughout the conversation.
Chris has asked for a memo debrief of your meeting with John Burn. I think
we may wish to add the above paragraph to that memo tomorrow to also update
her about my call to Patti Luse. Thanks Johnny
