This Public Forum was held due
to nearby resident's objections regarding the appropriateness of installing lights
within this neighborhood. Most of the concerns raised were about existing impacts the
neighbors endure due to the nearby ballfield complex. The majority of those present
felt these problems would be unacceptably increased if the hours of ballfield use were
to be increased through use of lights.
Responding to the request of Councilor Nicholson, staff has prepared an analysis of
alternative ballfields available which address some of the questions expressed at the
October 12th Public Forum. This analysis is contained in the attached memo to Council
titled, "Lighted Ballfield Alternatives Analysis".
Staff has committed to keep interested parties and neighbors to Ascot informed
regarding process and decisions which will affect this project. Pending direction from
the City Council, staff will forward copies of the Council's instructions to staff and
the staff memo to Council, " Ballfield Alternative Analysis" to those who spoke at the
October 12th Public Forum, those living within 200 feet of Ascot Ballfield, and the
Harlow Neighbors Association.
ITEMS UNDER SEPARATE COVER:
1 Staff Memo to Council: "Lighted Ballfield Alternatives Analysis ", dated
October 21, 1993
