•
will have to provide additional equipment and maintenance at these fields
to make the sites "game quality ". Also, by using additional fields for games,
these fields will not be available for practices for teams to rent (which
accounted for over $1500 in revenue last year). The Athletic program is
expected to recover over $100,000.00 in revenue above the direct cost of
the programs over the next three years. Without the ability to offer
activities at the times and days of the week which our users prefer and are
available, it will be a very difficult task to meet the Eugene Decisions
targets as well as the athletic needs of our working adult population.
Kidsports, school athletics and other youth athletic program providers
(AYSO, YMCA, etc...) generate large numbers of participants. The needs
and desires of these participants continues beyond age 18 (when they
become eligible for City of Eugene Athletic activities). The City program
attempts to accommodate these needs. City teams only get scheduled
games and very little practice time.
With the addition of Ascot lights, four (4) additional softball teams per day
could be accommodated at this facility with only 1 1/2 hours of light use per
day during softball season. In the early spring and late fall, lights used
three (3) hours a day (until 9:00 or 9:30 pm) could give over forty (40)
additional teams the opportunity to practice or have games at the Ascot
fields.
OUTSIDE USER GROUPS
Outside (non- sponsored) user groups will be impacted the most by not
replacing the Kincaid lights. With Kidsports and City Athletic programs
being forced to use more fields during daylight hours, this will leave very
few times that other groups could reserve field time. Also, outside user
groups are our primary source of revenue for non -city league activities.
