1. New Park Acquisition Through Land Trades:
Park land trades will allow acquisition of the three sites, shown below, which are listed in the attached
tables.
Candlelight/Marshall Site (BD -1)
NW Terry/Royal Site (BD -2)
NW Ayres /Gilham (W -3)
The EPRP proposes to trade Candlelight Park, in the Bethel - Danebo Planning District, for better located
park site(s). Candlelight Park is 12 acres in size and those acres can better serve the neighborhood park
needs of this district if it is split into two or three separate sites. Staff is considering sites identified as
BD-1 and BD -2 on the acquisition map as replacement sites to the Candlelight site.
In 1994 Gilham Park, in the Willakenzie Planning District, was sold and a smaller park site was obtained
further to the east of the original site. Approximately $80,000 remains in a dedicated fund toward the
purchase of another neighborhood park site identified as W -3 on the acquisition map.
2. New Park Acquisition Funded Through SDC:
Staff is working with developers within their subdivision platting process to secure park sites. All of
these sites currently under consideration have scored at the top in their respective planning districts.
Staff estimates acquisition of these park sites (listed below) to be approximately $950,000, to be funded
through the Parks SDF.
Hawkins View PUD (SW -1)
Crescent Meadows PUD (W -1)
Regency Estates/Emerald Estates (W -2)
Walnut Grove (R -1)
Bramblewood Subdivision (R -2)
Arrowhead Subdivision (SC -1)
As additional SDC or other funds become available for acquisition, staff will take into account those
areas that are the most severely deficient in terms of existing park acres per 1000 of population. The
highest ranking sites in the most deficient planning districts will receive the highest priority for future
acquisitions.
Pagr 7 New Park Sitec Fehniary 1996
