Council Action History <br /> On June 16, 1999 the City Council reviewed the proposed concept plans, preliminary costs, and a draft <br /> outline of the 4j /City of Eugene Intergovernmental Agreement. The Council subsequently approved the <br /> revised Youth Sports Park project scope to include cooperation with School District 4j in the <br /> development of four multi -use synthetic surface fields as follows: <br /> • Churchill High School/Kennedy Middle School: Youth Sports Park with Multi -Use Synthetic <br /> Surface Field <br /> • Sheldon High School: Youth Sports Park with Multi -Use Synthetic Surface Field <br /> • North Eugene High School: Multi -Use Synthetic Surface Field <br /> • South Eugene High School: Multi -Use Synthetic Surface Field <br /> • Cal Young Middle School: Neighborhood Park Improvements and Skateboard Park <br /> In addition, the Council instructed the City Manager to develop an Intergovernmental Agreement to <br /> implement the joint development concept. <br /> ** *The preliminary project scope and estimated costs is included as an attachment to this document. <br /> Policy Issues <br /> None. Information only. <br /> Other Background Information <br /> The $4 million proposal to develop Youth Sports Parks is included under the $11,750,000 for <br /> community -wide recreation services within the $25.3 million POS measure. The impetus behind the <br /> Youth Sports Park concept evolved through a larger community effort to provide high - quality, diverse <br /> recreation opportunities for Eugene area youth. The projects were a high priority element of the <br /> Mayor's Parks & Open Space Committee recommendations. <br /> Timing <br /> The project is currently in the bidding phase, with the bid opening scheduled for February 10th An <br /> update on the bids will be provided to Council at the February 16` joint Council /School District <br /> meeting. A recommendation of bid award will be made to the 4j School Board later that evening at their <br /> regularly scheduled meeting. <br /> Construction is expected to begin May /June 2000, with substantial completion of all five sites scheduled <br /> for October 2000. <br /> OPTIONS <br /> None.
