Authorize the Chair and Vice Chair to sign for the District During the 1999-
2000 Fiscal Year
The names of the newly elected board officers will be added to a resolution at
the July 1 meeting.
The superintendent will recommend approval of the resolution authorizing the
board officers to sign for the district during the 1999 -2000 fiscal year. A copy of
the resolution is included in your packet.
c. Adopt the Board Calendar for the 1999 -2000 School Year
The Board of Directors has held its meetings on the first and third Wednesdays
of the month for many years, with the agenda and materials related to the
agenda items being provided to the board on the Friday preceding the
Wednesday meeting. Special board meetings and board work sessions may
also be scheduled during the year; board members typically set aside every
Wednesday evening for that purpose. A proposed calendar of the regular
board meetings for the 1999 -2000 school year is included in the packet.
We are suggesting that your regular meeting schedule for April be modified
because the April 19 meeting date falls on the beginning day of Passover,
which is an important Jewish holy day. The proposed calendar would
schedule meetings on the first (April 5) and second (April 12) Wednesdays.
The superintendent will recommend approval of the proposed 1999 -2000
calendar of the regular board meetings.
2. Determine the Siting of Athletic Facilities
See Items for Information, item 1.
3. Set the Tuition Rates for the 1999 -2000 School Year
Each year a number of students who are not residents of the district pay tuition to
attend our schools or, especially in the case of special education students, other
school districts contract with us to provide educational services. The board sets
tuition rates for students in kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, high
school, and special education. We get no reimbursement for these students from
the state. We are proposing a $5 monthly increase for Kindergarten, a $5 monthly
increase for grades 1 -5, a $10 monthly increase for grades 6-8, and no change for
grades 9 -12. Special Education rates have been adjusted for projected cost
increases of the programs.
The superintendent will recommend approval of the tuition rates listed below for
the 1999 -2000 school year.
RATES FOR REGULAR STUDENTS
Kindergarten $4,140 or $460 per month (9 months)
Grades 1 -5 $5,535 or $615 per month (9 months)
Grades 6 -8 $5,310 or $590 per month (9 months)
Grades 9 -12 $5,265 or $585 per month (9 months)
