Subject: Grant is Parks & Open Space Division has an opportunity to The City of Eugene Public Works � apply for a $300,000 grant from the Oregon State Parks Departmen t. The grant would provide funding to acquire a 39 acre parcel in south Eugene that is a priority for natural resources and stormwater management. The site lies near Old Dillard road and East Amazon. It is an undeveloped tract that is forested with a stream corridor passing through. The property is currently owned by a developer from Portland who has indicated a willingness to sell to the City. Public Works staff have been working with The Nature Conservancy to negotiate a sales agreement and to initiate an appraisal of the site. The City would provide half of the funding for the acquisition through the stormwater corridor acquisition It program and the last remaining funds from the 1998 Parks & Open Space Bond. The property would be managed as natural open space and as an open waterway channel for stonnwater.
