The grant would provide funding to <br /> acquire a 39 acre parcel in south Eugene that is a priority for natural resources and stormwater <br /> management. <br /> The site lies near Old Dillard road and East Amazon. It is an undeveloped tract that is forested with a <br /> stream corridor passing through. The property is currently owned by a developer from Portland who has <br /> indicated a willingness to sell to the City. Public Works staff have been working with The Nature <br /> Conservancy to negotiate a sales agreement and to initiate an appraisal of the site. <br /> The City would provide half of the funding for the acquisition through the stormwater corridor acquisition It <br /> program <br /> and the last remaining funds from the 1998 Parks & Open Space Bond. Each of these funding <br /> �, grant would <br /> sources contribute ,000 a al of $3,000 funds. The State Parks gran <br /> provide would the additi $300 for a for total tot acquisiti of $600 Ci ,000• <br /> The grant application deadline is August 2, 2004 and the State Parks Commission will make a final <br /> funding decision on September 2, 2004. The property would be managed as natural open space and as an <br /> open waterway channel for stonnwater.
