1
I -.. -
Topography (cont.) , \ " \ _ .
' is
k
1 .
1 t
..
' _ . _
,
I t 1
ii, Urban Growth Boundary The subject is located near the edge of the Urban Growth
Boundary, which sets the boundary for urban development.
The current Urban Growth Boundary was set in the 1980's and
has not had any major adjustments since that time. In the
subject neighborhood, several parties including the owners of
the subject have explored the possibility of extending the
boundary.
1 According to the City of Eugene and Lane County, an Urban
Growth Boundary adjustment is not impossible but is
extremely difficult and requires several steps by both
governing bodies. The goal of the City of Eugene is to
continue to focus on infill projects within city limits before
addressing the possibility of extending the boundary.
However, it is a well known fact that infill lots are not typically
large enough to support development that requires a large
number of acres. The age of the current boundary (originally
set in the 1980's) combined with the small number of infill sites
available in the south Eugene neighborhood suggests that
the boundary in the subject neighborhood could be
adjusted in the near term. Although these factors support a
boundary adjustment, steps to move the line are still difficult
and time consuming.
