As we understand it, this will likely involve the creation of a master plan for the
park.
Community interest in Rasor Park is running high. Hundreds of neighbors have expressed
interest in seeing something simple yet attractive done at this site to provide for improved
neighborhood access and use, while at the same time enhancing the greenway and retaining
valuable open space. Several area residents have already put forward a preliminary plan for a
simple site restoration with some new plantings of native trees and shrubs. We have been
collecting public comment on the plan for several months. Other neighbors have suggested
putting in a playground, picnic shelters, or other features.
We would like to work with the City to take advantage of existing neighborhood interest
and momentum to see some modest landscaping and improvements done on this parcel of land.
The sort of park and planning process that we envision should not be costly to the City. We
believe that the costs may be even lower if the planning and design happens now, taking
advantage of the skills, labor, and possibly even materials that the neighborhood has expressed
interest in donating.
Thank you for your consideration of this request. We look forward to working with the
City in the near future on the restoration of Rasor Park.
Yours,
Becky Ri y
