HAMMITT Bob
From: MEDLIN Johnny R
To: SMITH Terry M
Cc: ETTER John F; HAMMITT Bob; LYLE Les A; Patrick, Tim (RIS1)
Subject: Path Lights at Petersen Barn
Date: Monday, June 19, 1995 2:25PM
Hi Terry,
After speaking with John Etter and Tim Patrick here is what I understand to have happened to date.
This is an issue that has been requested by Petersen Barn Park users several years. Part of the
underground wiring and power stub- out is already in place. This project was discussed at a Neighborhood
meeting at ABC Neighborhood a couple of months ago with John Etter showing a map of possible site
locations. The presentation /meeting received favorable support. For insuring a good public process, Tim
said that a mailing was done to the immediate neighbors on the perimeter of the Park notifying them of the
possible project and requesting them to attend this neighborhood meeting where the issue was raised. All
who attended the meeting were in favor of the project..
John said that he had told Tim that he could not fit this project into his current workload, but if the funding
was available the project could be done through Engineering as their workload permits. (This fits well with
our departments desired distinction that John's group does primarily planning projects with Engineering
then doing the implementing construction projects.)
Tim said that he wasn't aware of where the resources may come from for this project but thought that
they were to come from City sources. He said that he wasn't aware of any hard dollar commitment from
Dist. #52 but at one time there was some discussions regarding funds Dict. #52 had received from the
Feds relating to energy conservation. Tim also said that he had heard some discussions about possible use
of contingency funds.
To move forward on this it sounds like we first need to clarify if the needed funding source has been
identified and allocated, then ask Engineering to put this project onto their workload for design and
construction.
Thanks
Johnny
Page 1
