The only thing that we might want to include is that based on earlier
estimates from PWF and some of your concerns about underground issues which may not have been
covered in that earlier estimate, the amount we are going to be asking for from the FY -97 CIP General Fund
Category "B" looks to be in the $150 -200K range. Hopefully it will be on the low side of that estimate.
I want to make sure everyone concerned knows about our need and approximate amount from the CIP as
early as possible.
Thanks
Johnny
From: BLACK Bradley G
To: ETTER John F; MORGAN Dick A; WEBER John J; MEDLIN Johnny R; GRISSELL Dee
Cc: MARTIN Vic R
Subject: Owen Facility - summary of discussion topics
Date: Monday, January 22, 1996 4:51 PM
Based upon our discussion this afternoon, the following are my understandings:
1. The source of construction funding needs to be identified.
The current discussion centers around using a portion of next
fiscal years Category "B" CIP funds to cover the construction
cost. I will follow up on this issue within PWF.
2. The current goal is to get the design and documentation
work completed as soon as is reasonably possible. This will
include preparing a schematic design, site plan, refined
program and cost estimate within the next 30 to 45 days. The
cost estimate will be used to address future funding needs.
These items will be reviewed and approved by the group prior
to starting design development or working drawings.
3. If the start of construction is going to be delayed beyond
this next summer, some form of temporary arrangements will be
considered. This could include the use of a modular building
and storage containers to house current activities. Concern
was expressed that these are costs that do not contribute to
the permanent solutions.
4. Concern was expressed about eliminating places for persons
to hide as part of any new design.
5. Concern was expressed about siting issues. I will work with John Etter on this.
6. Communications will be to all those present at todays
meeting. Responses are not required unless appropriate.
7. After selection of an architect, I will prepare and
distribute an anticipated schedule.
8. Dee will act as the contact person for staff at the garden.
Please let me know if I have missed any major points.
Page 1
