GARDENER 11 City of Eugene <br /> #3066, Range 18A-0 6/97 <br /> EEO Cat: 8, FLSA: Non - Exempt Page 2 <br /> QUALIFICATIONS <br /> Knowledge of: <br /> Principles and practices of horticulture. <br /> Garden construction and maintenance. <br /> Ability to: <br /> Plan, conduct and perform a broad range of horticulture and garden construction and <br /> maintenance projects. <br /> Prepare reports, records and budget information. <br /> Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. <br /> Plan, assign, lead and review the work of garden staff <br /> Plan and provide training to employees <br /> Develop methods, procedures and policies. <br /> Perform physical work in varying weather conditions. <br /> Provide and wear personal protective equipment as required. <br /> Skill in: <br /> Performing a full range of garden maintenance and development activities. <br /> Establishing effective working relationships with other employees, City departments, <br /> community groups and agencies, vendors, and the general public. <br /> Experience and Training Guidelines — Any equivalent combination of education and <br /> experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to <br /> perform the job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: <br /> Experience: <br /> Five years of horticulture experience in all phases of garden development and <br /> maintenance, including garden design, construction and program coordination. <br /> Training: <br /> Two years of college or vocational training in horticulture. <br />
