Date: 01/19/93
From: John Etter CERMJFE - RIS1
To: Linda Norris CEPNLHN - RIS1
Subject: The question about guaranteeing public access to golf
I realize I didn't mention that to you as we talked an hour ago. Actually,
we decided to not go beyond the answer that Lee gave in the 6/25 memo. In-
formally, the owners agreed to including a 10 year deed restriction; they did
not want an indefinite one. Staff are concurring with Lee's statement at the
end: the market situation makes it unlikely that it could go private even if it
wanted to, at least for a long time. We think we should try to get as much
our of it as possible so far as being open to the public. Given the attrac-
tiveness of the trade result, we would not favor killing the deal by demanding
a deed restriction in perpetuity.
One thing that might happen is some kind of membership situation such as has
been proposed for the Hult Center, Community Centers and Library. If such
memberships become the way the City does business, we should not restrict
a golf developer from doing something similar.
('' (7 ..„ -
i
U *"
-- Oh
a'slc
d P 1/1,01 ca n 1 WA i j I/1
( \,,,,, .
r vi 66 : ‘ O
( IA W 1 1 si
e,e- av 0 ■ API
V ' L v d ellelAc- P-0140' ct 1-- 3 511 1/141k1. 0/0 "6
J d
,, ti?, vio
f it vi
ok
duff' I)
co ( 1 j 4e- Ck
I °nit
io vd 46 Lin b
° f 1 I . t d 4.):_
0--- oia'
") j fol'a SS / 14 j c
r ,
4) I
5S
