GOLDEN GARDENS GOLF PROPOSAL UPDATE <br /> Responding to an unsolicited proposal, last June the Council directed staff <br /> to proceed to work with the two owners of property adjacent to the City's <br /> Golden Gardens Park land -bank site concerning a land trade that would allow <br /> development of a privately owned golf course. A condition of this trade <br /> would be that the golf course would be open to the public. The concept being <br /> explored was to trade a City owned parcel mostly covered by ponds for lands <br /> of equal value in a location suited for future park development. An initial <br /> staff update memo was sent to Council on 9/14/92 estimated completion of <br /> negotiations by January 1993. <br /> Negotiations are continuing to determine mutually agreeable values for the <br /> properties under discussion. The representative of the adjacent property <br /> owners has explained that acquisition of the ponds is not a requirement for <br /> the development of the golf course but would be a desirable addition.
