Broadway
Eugene, OR 97401
(:12 Re: Golden Gardens Golf Course Project
Dear John:
I offer the following as a summation of our discussion at the
meeting on Friday, May 29.
0 Preliminarily, Mr. Van Duyn and I indicated that we were not
interested in being golf course developers and that we had
employed Mrs. McDonald to sell the property for us.
It is our understanding that several studies, conducted in the
Eugene area over the past ten or more years, have indicated our
properties are the best location for a public golf course.
Recent statistics indicate there is a very real need for such a
facility in the greater Eugene area.
We further understand that you and your staff are desirous of
this project and would like to see the development of this public
facility, and that members of the Council and various persons at
city and county level have expressed their support.
You and your staff then indicated that the following issues are
crucial to the exchange of lands and for City support.
1. Course privatization - We concur with this stipulation.
It is in the best interest of owners, developers and the public
to provide a public course.
2. Golden Gardens Access - We also agree that there should
be no access, except in case of an emergency, through the
adjacent subdivisions and that the entrance to the project should
be from Clear Lake Road.
