Golf Course Study - -B. McDonald 2
We spoke with the Eugene public works employee, Jack Long,
concerning the history of the channel and about the areas
served by the A -2 and the relationship to the ponds.
We have all current Oregon Water Resources Departmet maps
of the drainage basin and pertinent literature. The Water
laws were updated last year and there is an 400 page rule
book avaialable at the local WaterMaster's office. More
maps are available at Salem, if needed.
We are gathering more maps and literature from other sources.
Chemicals:
We are consulting with groundskeepers as to the closely
controlled chemicals used for golf courses. New products
developed to conform with current environmental laws are
being updated constantly. Developers /groundskeepers are
required to attend siminars on a regular basis to keep
abreast of new regulations, new products that are approved,
and .methods of application in order to keep their certif-
ication.
Additionally, careful design of the golf course can conserve
vast amounts_of.water. The trend in design is for conservative
use of water and chemicals.
Ultimately we will have to pass the permit process for
development past the Oregon State Water Board. I think
they will protect all interests, especially that of the
public water ways.
Egress /Ingress
The club house and parking areas are designated on the parcel
near - Clear Lake Road. There is no plan for access to the
- golf course from any of the city areas. We have made initial
contact with the County Roads Department concerning the addition
of an exit lane from Clear Lake. That will be required and
can be done. Clear Lake may eventually be widened when the
• •_ ` • road becomes the major access to the airport, which is, currently
in the airport master plan recommendations. 't
We have gathered information on flight paths (none effect
this property, on soil and farm use in the vicinity (favorable
for this site), and many other information packets and sources
that are needed for the Special Use Permit. This information
will be available to the land planning consultant who will
