Funding: Keep funding separate for each project. Discuss construction cost
and mention Corp of Engineers partnership, also Grant from State ODFW for
Delta ponds $82K — Terry will write a story line on the funding work with help
and info from others.
Natural Resource Enhancements: Increasing aquatic and riparian
habitat that will serve juvenile salmon populations as well as Western pond
turtle habitat and other wildlife. Increased riparian bench habitat that will be
inundated during part of the year and partially above water others.
Recreation: bird and wildlife viewing, picnicking, fishing
These two projects are linked in many ways that provide cost savings, cost
sharing, and material recycling and provide the community with increased and
improved natural resource facilities.
Material removed from the GGP site to provide safer pond bank slopes and
improved habitat will be relocated in DP to create additional riparian habitat
needed by Chinook salmon and other aquatic life. This material sharing
reduces cost to each project and leverages funding from the Corp of
Engineers, a participating partner. This material sharing will minimize the
need to draw from local limited sources and allows cost savings in
administration cost of one project versus two.
Project announcement to the public and to the adjacent neighbors.
• Timing — Get mailing list from Carol for GGP. Send out Post Card.
Maybe a letter to directly adjoining properties. Review
announcement out to groups. Work with Eric's staff.
• Council: Specific message to ward councilor, Announcement see
Eric's plan when available
• Type
Access:
GGP:
• Site access during construction — Trucks will access off Clear
Lake, small construction vehicles can access off Jessen. No public
access (see closures).
• Site Access during planting timeline (see closures)
DP
Needs for barriers — none or minimal for either project.
Signage
