The decision to form this advisory committee follows an extended period of interaction between the City and residents in the Hendricks Park area and other concerned citizens. This interaction has helped increase staff awareness of the community's various needs and desires relative to forestry issues in Hendricks Park. These varied needs and desires are reflected in the characteristics of the committee described in this memo and in the accompanying CIC committee application form. Requesting Department The Hendricks Park Forested Area Advisory Committee is being formed as a department advisory committee (DAC) for the Public Works Department. Committee Task The DAC will be asked to provide citizen input into the development of a Forested Area Management Plan for Hendricks Park. Issues expected to be covered include developing a forested area vision statement for the park, recommending guidelines /goals and scope for a consultant to use in development of the plan, critique of the consultants work, and making recommendations to the Director of Public Works regarding adoption/modification of the plan. Committee Representation Based on input received by the City at several citizen meetings, staff recommends that the Hendricks DAC include 11 members, with the memberships allocated as described on the application form. Consistent with City policy, all DAC members would reside within the Urban Growth Boundary. A more detailed description of the membership mix follows: III -1
