Establish scope of desired work to be included in a Request for Formal Proposal <br /> (RFP) process to consultants interested in developing a Forested Area <br /> Management Plan for Hendricks Park. <br /> 2. Review criteria which staff will used in selecting a consultant from those replying <br /> to the RFP. <br /> 3. Within the scope of the City's contract with the consultant, review and provide <br /> comments /direction regarding the content of the first draft of the consultant <br /> prepared forested area management plan. <br /> 4. Review the final consultant prepared forested area management plan and make <br /> recommendations to the Director of Public Works for adoption or modification. <br /> Anticipated scope of the management plan would be to determine management policies <br /> for Trees within Hendricks Park. <br /> Questions to be addressed: <br /> 1. What are the desired species for retention and new plantings? <br /> 2. How do we insure tree species diversity is achieved? <br /> 3. How is existing soils factored into tree retention and /or selection? <br /> 4. What criteria determines when a tree needs to be removed? <br /> 5. How is windthrow potential factored into retention /removal decisions? <br /> 6. Do we try to manage tree fungal diseases? If so, how? <br /> 7. Do we manage trees differently in the interface areas between the "natural forest <br /> and the abutting residential or developed park areas? If so, how? <br /> 8. What is the extent of the impact to existing trees from current irrigation practices <br /> or storm drainage? What changes are recommended? <br />
