Finding #3
Irrigation in the unstable area of the picnic shelter east of Birch Lane and
Floral Hill should be discontinued to reduce the risk of contributing to the
decline in health and lack of vigor of Douglas -fir trees.
Finding #4:
Trefare continuing to decline and die in the Rhododendron Garden and
therefore the stand should be rigorously monitored and evaluated. Because the
presence of mature Douglas -fir and oak trees is a substantial part of the
aesthetic value of the garden, every effort should be taken to make appropriate
adjustments in both the irrigation delivery system and application of volume of
water.
c
Attachments:
Correspondence from Peter Torres, July 22, 1999; Ginny Alfriend, August 24, 1999; and Scott
Ferguson, August 17, 1999.
