Hendricks Park Management Manual, 1988 <br /> This manual covers existing developments and those proposed in the present <br /> Master Plan for the park and the Parks Systems Master Plan. <br /> I. Park Purposes: <br /> 1. Conservation of the City's eastern wooded skyline. <br /> 2. Walking, jogging and nature contact within park and trail head for <br /> Ridgeline Trail system. <br /> 3. Picnicking and children's active play. <br /> 4. Botanical garden displays. <br /> II. General Management Guidelines: <br /> 1. In keeping with the wooded setting, structures or paved surfaces of <br /> unrelieved concrete shall be avoided, if at all possible. <br /> 2. From concern for the impact on abutting residences, all developments <br /> must -avoid stimulating public activity within a reasonable buffer <br /> area near park boundaries. <br /> 3. Parking areas should accommodate anticipated needs of buses and <br /> bicycles. <br /> 4. Employee's cars and Park service vehicles must be parked in remote, <br /> long term parking spaces from March through September to conserve <br /> prime space for short term parking by the general public. <br /> 5. Every effort shall be made to make the park wheelchair accessible <br /> while considering the constraints of the topographical features. <br /> III. Special Components <br /> A. Native Ridgeline Forest <br /> 1. Except for facilities or development necessary to enhance its <br /> use, the South native forest area should remain undeveloped. <br /> 2. Management of the coniferous forest shall conform to the guide - <br /> lines of the Department's Native Forest Management Plan. <br /> 3. Ivy and other non - native vegetation should be removed. <br />
