POS Meeting Agenda - September 14, 2006 <br /> Friends of Hendricks Park <br /> Friends of Hendricks Parks' Accomplishments this year: <br /> Oak Knoll Restoration and Management Plan funded by FoHP <br /> Centennial activities: Centennial Plaque, Birthday party, estimated 150 participants <br /> 13 educational walks, lectures, tours and workshops with over 500 participants. <br /> Grant given to Walama Restoration for education programs with Harris and Edison Schools. <br /> Funding by grant for volunteer coordinator 1 day /week <br /> Funding two days /week Native Plant Gardner position <br /> NPG bed at top of Summit (part of Jen Chen's overall entryway design) completed by volunteers, Park <br /> Staff -- funded by FoHP <br /> Fall volunteer appreciation picnic. <br /> (1) Current or Ongoing Projects: <br /> a) Crosswalks Project - Commitment to complete <br /> What is the status? Any problems? <br /> What is needed? Transportation department <br /> involvement? <br /> b) Entry Signs Project: City funding possibility? <br /> c) Overlook Bench Project: FoHP has a donor, and a <br /> commitment for a volunteer contractor to develop the <br /> Overlook site, and provide equipment needed. There is <br /> a plan to install the Centennial plaque on the basalt <br /> column next to the site. We are asking for bids on <br /> the stonework for the bench. The plan is to complete <br /> this by year end. <br /> City needs to get bench ordered <br /> (2) Forest Management: <br /> a) INCREASE funding for the Forest Management Plan <br /> coordinator position (Blazar currently) through grants <br /> leverage (POS grantwriter ?) <br /> What is the POS commitment for implementation of the <br /> Forest Management Plan? Continuing each year? <br /> b) Continue Ivy Removal program - Rename as "Invasive <br /> Removals" <br /> What is POS commitment to this program? <br />
