Locking the Gates on Norwood and Jeppesen Acres Road: There have been mixed reactions. It
seems to have smoothed out toward the end of the Football season. However,
recently all the padlocks have been replaced and the new locks cannot be opened
with the keys that were distributed to the neighbors during the fall and winter.
Small fields near Meadowlark Elementary School: The Sheldon High- school
Lacrosse team now practices on these fields. During the Lacrosse
practice time elementary children are not able to play on the fields.
Garbage: Garbage is not always picked up and some of it lies in the street until it is picked up.
Concession stands: Do the concession stands conform to the health rules? Do they require a
restaurant license? Do they require a food handler's license? Are there places to
wash their hands after using the portable restroom facilities?
Trees cut down along Norwood south of the baseball diamond: Meadow Lark
Elementary students planted these trees. The type of tree cut down is
Incense Cedar; it is a slow growing tree. I understand EWEB cut
down the trees because they were growing up into the distribution
power lines. The trees were planted 10 feet east of the distribution
power line centerline and likely would have been trimmed had they
been in some -ones yard. Is there some other reason why the trees were
cut down?
Policy regarding naming of Fields: Recently the Multi -Use field at South Eugene
High- School was named for Ken Morrow. The Intergovernmental
Agreement in Section 9 Field Names states, "District reserves the right
to name the four artificial surface fields after consultation with the
City and the User Committee." I was E- mailed asking if I concurred
with the name Ken Morrow. I concurred, but I really don't know who
Ken Morrow is or was, I will appreciate it if someone enlightens me.
I am attaching some pictures of the Sheldon Fields. Two pictures are of signs discussed
above. Another is a picture of the distribution power line and bark -o -mulch mounds
indicating the location of the trees that were cut down. Three pictures are of the trail
intersection located south west of the Sheldon Swimming Pool. At this intersection
additional traffic control posts need to be installed because cars drive around them and
drive all over the Sheldon Fields. In the pictures please note the locations of the
proposed new control posts.
Committee Member,
,,
Arnold L. Hultberg
cc:
Cal Young Neighborhood Association, Chair Person, Dick Beers
